Three

Today, three years ago I married Adam.

It was a magical, whirlwind of a day.

It was beautiful and warm, and all the people I love in the world were there supporting us.

I though my heart couldn't get any more full than it was on that day, but I'm slowly learning that it continues to grow, day by day, year by year, with each anniversary I have somehow fallen more in love with that guy I married back in 2010. 

 

This year we traveled a lot, met new friends, I followed my dream to culinary school, Adam graduated from college and found a job he loves, and so much more.

 

I don't know what year four will have in store for us, and that's ok, because I do know that I will have Adam by my side and that's all I really need.

Anniversaries One and Two



A Few Updates

1. I'm still alive! Here I am! Breathing! Living!
2. Finals/Preparing for Europe was a bad idea - the timing?! What was I thinking??
3. It's finals week.
4. I leave for Europe on Saturday.
5. ^^^ Saturday!!!!!
6. Tonight is my mystery basket final. Real life chopped. Except I fail if I can't figure how how to properly pair candy hearts with leg of lamb and I don't win $10,000 if I pass.
7. ^^^ Please bless that I don't have to cook leg of lamb tonight.
8. One day last week I ate 4 Kneaders cookies. I'm feeling stressed. Don't judge.
9. Last weekend that sweet guy I'm married to whisked me away to the mountains for a little pre-anniversary celebration.
10. We ate brunch at Stein Eriksen's lodge.
11. ^^^ $$$$$ most expensive waffles I've ever eaten.
12. On our real anniversary (this Wednesday) I have mandatory kitchen deep cleaning at school. Boooo!!!

14. Adam got a new job!
15. He is the VP of Marketing - and oh man he is excited.

New Home

 

 

Sorry for the brief blogging hiatus. I feel like so much has happened in just a short amount of time. We are all moved in to our new apartment. Well, technically it's a house. It's the upstairs of a house. A darling 2 bedroom house in Orem, to be specific. I'm still getting used to living there. The creeks and beeps and squeaks are so unfamiliar, and I jump at everything. Hopefully soon that will  go away. It's weird I know it's ours and all of our things are there, but I still feels like we're having a sleep over at a strangers house. I love it though, I particularly love having a second bedroom, I love having a bath tub, I love the brick wall in my bedroom, it's just so charming, and comfortable. It's a sweet little place and I'm happy to call it home.

That guy I'm married to

My husband is a goof ball. It's not a secret And most times sometimes it drives me crazy. The constant tickling. The voices. The inability to take serious things serious. And the laugh, oh that laugh. The one that is often mistaken for sobs. He is through and through boy, poop jokes and all.  And unfortunately it is far too rare that I actually stop to appreciate that guy, silly laugh, funny phrases, even the poop jokes. In those moments when something strikes him as funny you can usually find me sitting by his side burying my shaking head in my hands, or giving him an elbow to the ribs, my way of telling him to knock it off, or if it's bad enough a motherly "Aaaadam!", escapes my lips, followed by a "come on!" or "pull yourself together". 

 

I can happily say that after almost 3 years of marriage I am starting to change. I laugh more - and I don't take things so seriously. Living with someone who makes me laugh was not something I considered to be important before I got married. My "list" of qualities to find in a husband oddly enough didn't include one of the things I love most about the man I ended up with. Laughing everyday with the person I love is fun. It is a significant part of our relationship. Making jokes out of bills and car repairs and piles of laundry makes those tedious, miserable things somewhat more enjoyable. The funny bone that Adam posses is one that I was born without, but slowly I'm learning. When something terrible happens, or life just feels hard my initial reaction is to become frustrated and sad. Adam's is to laugh. Or to make a joke. Or even find one on you tube.

 

 He is a good example of what I'd like to be like. I'm getting there. But for now I'm learning to appreciate that part of my husband that I typically don't.

The Motorcycle Ride

After a long week stuck in an office/kitchen the only thing I want to do on an 80-degree Saturday is go on a motorcycle ride with my guy.  Especially when the mountains in our backyard are as breathtaking as they were today. Simply stunning.

We rode the Alpine Loop. It starts up Sundance Canyon and ends in American Fork. The road is paved the whole way and is twisty and windy and shows off some of the best views of fall colors I've seen yet. 

If you're a Utah local jump in your car, grab some snacks and head up into the mountains because those colors are not to be missed! We had a beautiful afternoon spending time in this pretty place.

 The awkward moment when you finish season 3 on netflix and they haven't picked up the 4th season yet and you want to cry a little bit.

or

That awkward moment when you realize you're obsessed with a television show that's not even real.

Three years ago

On the 19th of September for the last 3 years in a row Adam and I have eaten at the Goodwood. We request a specific booth and after dinner we go to Macey's grocery store and get soft serve ice cream cones. We play a round of pool and we do some serious flirting. If we were being really thorough though we would watch the best of Will Ferrell SNL and talk about politics over dinner, but usually we leave those two details out of the reenactment of our first date.

Every year when this day comes around it's fun to think back and remember the emotions (anxiety) we were feeling before our last first date. I love any reason to celebrate the relationship that I have with my guy and why not celebrate the milestones. This is a big one - today three years ago is the day the search ended. I found him and that is worth celebrating. Happy three year 1st date-iversary to us!

Take me to the fair

That's what I said to Adam Friday afternoon before we got off work. "Take me to the fair, I want a funnel cake". And so he did. And I was happy. 

We saw animals, giant pumpkins, and prize winning peaches.

But most importantly I got a funnel cake.

The state fair was a total success!
 

Labor day and Tie Dyed Mountains

The holiday weekend in our home was very relaxed. We slept in everyday till 10. Zucchini bread was made. Swimming was done. Movies were watched (finally saw Avengers). And the motorbike was taken out for a spin. 

Seemingly over night it has become autumn in Utah. The leaves are changing, and soon the mountains will be ablaze in reds and oranges and yellows. But right now before the full fledged change has occurred the mountains are more tie-dyed if you will. The colors pop here and there and it's spectacular. Such a beautiful time of year. We took a long, relaxing drive up a local canyon today to bask in the splendor of early fall.

New Pad

Crazy that we've been in our new place for over a month now, and I still haven't told the blog world about it! We are loving our new apartment and our new furniture (oh, hey we are adults - new furniture!!). These are the only pictures we have of our new casa but hopefully in the near future I'll share more. I love our bed spread from target and our attempt at a collage wall but can I just say was more or less a big hilarious joke. Seriously, Ikea why do your frames suck so bad? Collage wall = most frustrated I've ever been in my life. I also love our flatware patterned throw pillows (that Adam picked out, he has such good taste) and our cool antique globe. We are settling in nicely, and are so comfortable in our new home.

Tigers Blood Mango Snowie

I had a serious craving for a snowie tonight. Like I wanted one pronto. So sweet Adam and I hopped on the motorbike and went to the busiest snowie shack in all of Utah county. People if you haven't tried Hokulia yet and you live in a 50 mile radius you must go now. You will be sorry if you don't. I'm trying to save you from a summer of regret!
Anyway when you decide to give it a try let us know, we'll meet you there!
We could use an excuse to go back. How about tomorrow? Kidding, Kidding.
But really? Tomorrow?

Saturday is a special day

 It's been at least 6 months since either of our cars have been washed. Today it finally happened.
 It truly was a special day.
Isn't having a clean car the best?

The pioneers would be proud

 

To celebrate the anniversary of the pioneers ending their trek in Utah on July 24, 1847 Adam and I went to a demolition derby. And holy cow, we had a good 'ol country time. 

Details from a rainy weekend away

We headed north for a cozy condo weekend with family. Here are some details of our trip:

 Cinnamon french toast, cozy blankets and fresh pine

 Wrought iron fences, rain covered flowers and ice cream

 Hours of card games, beautiful scenery and my lacy sister

Not many pictures of us due to the fact that, well we were greasy and in sweats most of the weekend.

Fourth of July

The 4th of July is right up there with my favorite holidays. The fireworks, the bar b que, the warm weather, it's all sort of magical. We had so much fun this year celebrating our nation for two days straight. Get ready for an overdose of fourth of July fun in with the Anderson's. 

Day 1:

On the third we upheld tradition and watched fireworks in my parents neighborhood at Eagleridge golf course. 

 We had a picnic and got everyone together for a fun night.

Best friends Liz and Josh joined us for the fun.

  The fireworks were beautiful and did not disappoint. Eagleridge always does such a good job we loved it.

 After fireworks we headed back to the house and had some fun with sparklers
(my personal favorite part of the 4th!)

Day 2: 

On the fourth we hosted a housewarming party bar b que with friends and family. Adam got to try out the new grill and Todd supervised. Best friend Haley and little sister Ally prepared yummy treats in my new kitchen.

The menu consisted of burgers, bar b que chicken and corn on the cob. For dessert I made a fourth of July inspired cheesecake and there were lots of yummy sides. I still can't get over how good those cherry limeades were...IBC thanks for that!

It was so fun spending the day with such awesome people.

All in all a successful fourth of July! Topped of with a second helping of fireworks.

Life GPS

Do you remember this post? It's funny when I wrote it I felt hopeless, and confused and maybe even a little lost. The thing that I had forgotten was that I do have a "life GPS" - His name is God and He knows where I need to be going and if I would just ask He would remind me. So I finally realized this weeks after the fact and life has once again fallen into place thanks to some Heavenly Help. I am grateful for a loving and caring Heavenly father, who knows what jobs, which apartment, what path is going to be right for me and my sweet husband.

This Weekend

 We had an eventful weekend. We visited my grandparents in Logan and went to one of my favorite places to get pizza. Frederico's on the USU campus. I love their crumbly ham. It's the best.

 I tried out dots and stripes for size and sported my bran new glasses.

 But lastly (and most importantly) we went to my cousin's missionary farewell. It was a beautiful Sunday morning spent eating yummy food and hanging out with family.

 Peru is lucky to get such a great guy!

Today

Today I went to the eye doctor.  

I had been once before. 

When I was 13. 

My vision has progressively gotten worse.

 Let's just say maybe I shouldn't have been driving for the last 7 years. 

Maybe I'm slightly blind.

The doctor put these drops in my eyes that made them dilate.

It wasn't fun. 

Have you experience this?

Being outdoors in the light was mostly uncomfortable.

Hence, the sunglasses.

 After my appointment that guy I'm married to took me to Wendys. 

Chicken nuggets and lemonade made me feel better.

 

Over all it was a good day.

And I can see again, so that's good.
