That husband of mine

He got himself a motorbike.
He sure loves it.
It sure makes him happy.

And that makes me happy.

Kite Festival

On Saturday Adam and I experienced the joy that is the annual DC Kite Festival, in conjunction with the Cherry Blossom Festival.  Ever since I was a little girl I had an obsession interest in kite flying. Growing up my dad took my sisters and I across the street to the field behind our elementary school on Sunday afternoons and we would fly a kite. Something about the frustration of not being able to get the kite to take flight, running back and forth throwing the kite into the sky with hopes that it would stay there. Thinking that the dumb kite will never get higher than as far as your arm can reach, almost losing hope, when suddenly a gust of wind catches the wings and off it goes into the sky with the birds, your kite. It's sort of magical. I loved the Kite Festival.

There were so many people out flying kites, kids, adults, professionals, student clubs. All types. There was actually several competitions going on throughout the day followed by a Japanese style kite battle. It was all pretty intense.

I wanted to end with this photo of our favorite kite of the day: the whale. It was something like 20 feet long and weighs a ton - it was so cool. It was swimming through the air. Pretty amazing.

Merry Christmas to you

Christmas is...

Glittery bows and candy striped paper
Sparkling lights
And bright bulbs
Perfected family recipes
And baking with mom
Familiar smells coming from the kitchen
And Grandmas crunchy peanut brittle
My favorite advent calendar
And the Carpenters Christmas cd playing in the background

Its the most wonderful time of the year

Picture taking

So I am related to these two goddesses of beauty
(trust me, it makes no sense to me either)

Last weekend we had a slumber party and then said goddesses
let me dress them, drive them and make them smile for the camera.

It was an adventure.

Love sister time.

Crazieness

April has been a hectic, busy, crazy month for me and Adam and (I hate to say it) I am super looking forward to May's comforting arms to take me in this weekend. It hasn't been bad just lots of good stuff going on, just busy you know?

I hope you know.

It will make me feel better if you know too...you know?

Ok I'm done.

So I'm not blogging right now to tell you about all of the busyness, I am actually blogging to remind you (and me) of the best day of my life.

A year ago today I was married to Adam. Isn't that crazy?

It's crazy.

This has been the most educational, most amazing year of my life. It certainly hasn't been the easiest, but it has been the happiest.

After one year as a married woman I wouldn't say that I am a professional by any means but I feel like there are few things I've learned that will stick with me for life. One of those things being that dirty socks have many homes...none of them being the hamper, and that even if I buy a towel rack the wet towels still get hung on the door, lamp, etc.

The most important thing that I'd say that I've learned this year that has helped me and Adam the most in "tricky" situation is this quote by President Monson:

"Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved."

This bit of advice has applied to us more than any other we've received. I couldn't even count the number of times Adam or I have repeated these words to one another and the problem seems to virtually disappear.

I am so grateful for my husband. For my marriage. For the Temple. For this Gospel.

Happy One Year Anniversary to me and my sweetheart.

YouTubed

My darling husband likes him some youtube. Loves it. Seriously.
And most of the time when he finds the latest, greatest youtube masterpiece I lose interest after about 10 seconds...just don't tell him that.
However, recently he wanted me to spare twenty minutes of my life to watch the short film:

It was breath taking, and since the first time I watched it I have thought about it often.
The message is one of love and un-obvious beauty.
Let's just say I bawled like a small child.
It's totally worth twenty minutes - just watch it you'll be glad you did.

A list

Don't tell anyone but I don't hate this weather. I actually like it when the sky is grey and it's cold out. It makes me feel like listening to Norah Jones, cuddling up in my sweats, and baking something yummy.

I love this dress so much. Sometimes I refuse to take it off, I feel like I need to sleep, shower and clean in it.

I just got one of these, I am so excited to make homemade Lasagna noodles I can hardly stand it.

(Thanks Grandpa Anderson)

Thanks to my friend Erica, I am currently eating one of these:

(lion house rolls)

In one month I will be here:

The heat in my apartment is currently not opperating, making my love for these two things intensify:

Dont judge but until yesterday I had never tasted this:

Dont judge but yesterday this became my favorite:

(seriously where have i been?)

I am attempting to make this, this weekend:

Her Beef Bourguignon:

You should try too:

I'll let you know how it goes.

Oook well that got a little long, sorry I just couldn't stop. Sue me. :)

Lite Brite

Oh my goodness this made me cry a little. People are so creative.

">

From the yahoo music blog:

"Using stop-motion animation (with absolutely no computer graphics or effects), more than 700,000 vintage Lite-Brite pegs, and the help of 83 friends who'll probably never want to look at another Lite-Brite peg for the rest of their lives, the David Crowder Band created the video over the course of 2,150 hours and 148 pizzas. They literally made things with light, and the result--a 2D tale of true love--is electric indeed."
